International Healthcare Award Presented to BIQ Health Solutions Project
The implementation of GS1 Standards in the medication management process at Hospital de Cascais has received the GS1 Healthcare Best Provider Implementation Case Study Award.
This award recognises an organisation, department or individual within an institution for the successful implementation of GS1 Standards in at least one organisational process. The announcement was made during the Global GS1 Healthcare Conference.
The application, submitted jointly by GS1 Portugal, Hospital de Cascais and BIQ Health Solutions, was based on the implementation of GS1 Standards throughout the medication management process, focusing on three main objectives:
Ensuring the five rights of medication administration with the lowest possible risk of error: the right patient, the right medication, the right dose, the right time and the right route of administration.
Maximising process efficiency by reducing costs and time, preventing errors and minimising waste through digitalisation and automated data recording.
Increasing visibility throughout the medication management process to improve traceability from production to administration to the patient, while simplifying recall procedures and reverse logistics.
