ConsiTrac® is a solution for recording and controlling the flow of consigned materials in hospital settings, based on barcode scanning. It enables the traceability of these items throughout the hospital workflow, from the initial material request through to the recording of their use or return to the supplier.

The solution increases the traceability, safety and efficiency of the hospital consigned materials workflow, optimising process management and quality.

Creation of requests for the required medical devices.

Requests may be made for:

  1. Initial consignment or stock replenishment of resident consigned materials

  2. Non-resident consigned materials specific to a patient

  3. Kits of non-resident consigned materials specific to a patient

Receipt of medical devices, carried out by the procurement department using the supplier’s barcode, with the following information recorded:

  1. Item code
  2. CDM
  3. Reference
  4. Batch
  5. Expiry date
  6. Operator who received the material
  7. Date and time of receipt

The system interprets GS1 coding and allows custom data masks to be registered. If necessary, masks can be created at the time of receipt.

Transfer to the destination department. Medical devices may be transferred immediately upon receipt to the requesting department, or at a later stage either to the requesting department or to another department associated with the material, making them available for use on the patient.

Application of the medical device to the patient by scanning the supplier’s barcode and recording the following information:

  • Patient record
  • Patient episode
  • Physician
  • Item code
  • CDM
  • Reference
  • Batch
  • Expiry date
  • Operator who applied the medical device
  • Date and time of application

  2. Return of consigned materials
  3. Application of medical devices by patient (between dates)
  4. Application of medical devices by procedure (between dates)
  5. Movements of consigned materials
